In recent years, the Christmas tree competition has gained popularity in the community. This year, the competition was divided into four categories: schools, homes, districts, and businesses/other organisations, to encourage the community to create and make their own Christmas tree and décor rather than purchasing imported Christmas decorations that are not always environmentally friendly.
Hunt Deltel funded the candidates in the residential category this year, and Ms Natasha Joubert from Point Laure was the joyful winner. Her Christmas tree is built out of yoghurt tins, ribbons, and Christmas lights and is adorned with 'balye koko' from the coconut tree.
