In 2008, Hunt Deltel and Maersk co-developed the first prototype fish loader in the Seychelles. Previously fish had to be loaded manually into containers. The Fish Loader is a machine conceived to further revolutionize the value chain by introducing the mechanized loading of tuna into reefer containers, with the immediate aim of increasing efficiency and effectiveness in the export of tuna around the world. In 2008, Port Victoria in Seychelles became the first country in the world to make use of the first two prototypes of the Maersk Fish Loader. Since then, another four fish loaders have been added to the fleet, with the most recent two additions having been further fine-tuned to continue to improve the device’s yield.
