From humble beginnings, Hunt, Deltel & Co Ltd. was founded in 1937 with just 5 employees in an office without electricity on Revolution Avenue in Victoria. Today, the company is one of the largest employers in Seychelles and boasts and extensive suite of services, subsidiaries and properties in its portfolio. Hunt Deltel was formed in 1937 by two prominent members of the local community, Percival Hunt and Alexandre Deltel. The company started with just 5 employees in an office without electricity on Revolution Avenue in Victoria. Many would be surprised to learn of our history in the provision of insurance
Since it’s inception in 1937, the company’s principle activity has historically been shipping line representation; our directors have witnessed the evolution of shipping in Seychelles from break-bulk shipments to full containerisation; from direct calls from Europe to the current hub and feeder system.
Hunt, Deltel & Co. Ltd. streamlines its importation portfolio following the opening of Seychelles International Airport in 1972. With the expansion of the local market and the arrival of tourism, the company concentrates on its services and vehicle distribution.
In 1980, Hunt Deltel opened the first computer retail outlet in Seychelles – Mahe Business Machines – representing Apple and Olivetti products. Mahe Business Machines was also one of three shareholders that established the first ISP for Seychelles – Atlas Ltd – which later acquired by Cable & Wireless.Ltd.

In 2008, Hunt Deltel and Maersk co-developed the first prototype fish loader in the Seychelles. Previously fish had to be loaded manually into containers. Completed in 2014, the Fleet Logistics Centre is home to the Commercial Fishing, the Stevedoring, the Transport & Logistics and the Warehousing Departments. Located at Ile du Port, this state of the art facility generates solar power through a 100KW photovoltaic system and harvests rainwater in a 100,000L underground tank.
on June 27th 2015, Seychelles’ first Boat Show was held Eden Island Marina. This was the country’s first-ever national boat show. The event showcased all manner of vessel from personal leisure craft to the vessels of national maritime agencies and commercial luxury yachts.
The Storage Company – Hunt Deltel’s Records Management subsidiary commenced operations in 2016 as the first local provider of this service. Our facility meets all standards set by international financial institutions with regards to risk management, confidentiality and security.
The Quadrant Building – Hunt Deltel’s mixed-use development in Victoria, was completed in 2016. The new Headquarters for Hunt Deltel, the team officially moved in on the 1st of August 2016, taking up the entire 3rd floor. The building also features tenanted office space, retail stores and luxury serviced apartments.
