Rotary Club Coco Der Mer and key sponsor Hunt Deltel completed a significant project to provide Inner Islands schools with water harvesting facilities. Club President Wellington Manjengwa launched the project, which provided essential water infrastructure to La Digue and Praslin, providing safe water for schoolchildren.
The initiative focused on installing water harvesting tanks and taps in schools, allowing children to use the water for handwashing and playground cleanup. The water will also water school gardens, increasing sustainability. Installing gutters and drainage pipes helped collect rainwater.

President Wellington Manjengwa and a large Rotary Club Coco Der Mer delegation thanked Hunt Deltel for their important support to the project during the launch event. Distinguished guests included Mr. Michel Madeleine, the Head Teacher of La Digue School, Minister Flavien Joubert of Agriculture, Climate Change, and Environment, a Ministry of Education delegation, and Honourable Rocky Uranie, MNA for Inner Islands.
In light of climate change, President Wellington and Minister Joubert stressed water conservation and resource efficiency in their statements. The speakers also advised students to maintain the new infrastructure for their own health and the well-being of the environment.
Students and teachers showed their gratitude with a beautiful song and dance performance. The pupils' excitement and enthusiasm reaffirmed the project's importance and beneficial impact on their lives.
Hunt Deltel, the government, and everyone else who helped with this initiative are very much appreciated by Rotary Club Coco Der Mer. One sustainable effort at a time, we are making the Seychelles a better place.
